Music at St. Andrew's

St. Andrew's Church, Owen Sound has a long tradition of fine music that began when this present church was founded in 1925. Typically, choirs were the providers of sacred music for the worship services. As times and society have changed, so have the ways in which we worship God through music.

Today, St. Andrew's supports a very active music program that includes the St. Andrew's Choir and the  Praise Teams. Under each heading, you can read about each group and how worship through music is developed.

St. Andrew's Choir

St. Andrew's Choir is a group of talented musicians who have committed to provide the best in music for worship services in partnership with prayer and the spoken word.

We are a loyal group of singers who are engaged in a lively season of Sunday morning music, special seasonal services, outreach activities, concerts, and assisting aspiring young musicians. We rehearse each Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and on Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m. under the leadership of Nancy Stewart, our Choir Director.

Anyone who can commit to the choir on a regular basis is welcome to join us. We will teach you everything that you need to know. We sing a variety of styles of music that represents the five centuries of choral music.

If you think you might be interested in being part of the choir, contact the church office (519-376-7886).

Praise Teams

St. Andrew's has 2 praise teams.

The Sundays @ 9 praise team leads the "praise and worship" songs at the Sundays @ 9 service.

Presently, there are seven members who sing, play percussion, harmonica, guitar, and keyboard. Ed Renaud, our AV person, looks after the sound and video for practices and the Sundays @ 9 worship service.

They meet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursdays to practice.

The 10:30 praise team leads the congregation in "praise and worship" songs at the 10:30 worship service. They meet to practice at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evenings.

New members are always welcome. Call Arlen, Praise Team leader, at (519)370-0158 for more information.
